Infrared thermography of buildings
Thermography gives a quick visual view of insulation defects, with colour gradients showing the temperature differences caused by missing insulation.
What is infrared thermography?
Used in buildings for nearly 30 years, infrared thermography has become widespread for diagnosing insulation defects in a wall, a ceiling, a thermal bridge or a
faulty underfloor heating system. The images, or thermograms, from each survey make it possible to pinpoint quickly and precisely where heat is being lost.
HEAT LOSS DIAGNOSIS
How is the test carried out?
Your thermography
needs
Thermography is used for one or more insulation defects, often noticed as discomfort or excessive energy use. For these reasons, or for expert assessments, our operators listen carefully to understand your needs.
The thermography
survey
Usually carried out in the cold season, or when the temperature difference between outside and inside is 5 to 10 °C, thermography surveys are generally done in the morning to avoid interference from sunlight.
Writing and
delivering the report
An analysis report is produced with the infrared images and photos locating the defects found: missing insulation, thermal bridges, etc.
Why carry out an infrared thermography survey?
Alongside an
airtightness test
Combined with depressurising the building during an airtightness test, the infrared camera makes cold air infiltration visible. Leaks are located faster and documented with images in the report.
Alongside an
energy audit
Without precisely defining the make-up of a wall, thermography shows whether insulation is present and evenly distributed.
Helping decide
on works
Being a visual diagnosis by nature, thermography pinpoints defects exactly and makes it easier to decide on wall and ceiling insulation works to save energy.
